What is a vehicle GPS tracker?
A vehicle GPS tracker is a small piece of hardware that receives its position from GPS satellites and sends it to a server over the mobile network. It is connected to the vehicle’s electrical system, mounted out of sight and starts sending data as soon as the ignition is switched on.
The Rotanis device reports more than location: ignition status, speed, mileage and driving events such as harsh braking. On the platform this data appears as a map, reports and alerts.

No. The device draws very little current and goes into sleep mode when the ignition is off, sending its location less often.
